However, the research infrastructure in most universities was insufficient, leading to a decline in the quality of research work. It drastically hindered the students' ability to explore and push the boundaries of their research.
The NEP 2020 proposes a significant change in the UG/PG structure. The UG program will last four years, and the PG program will be for either 1-year master's course or two years, depending on the approach. Students can enroll in their desired courses for 1, 2, 3, or 4 years bachelor's degree course level. They can work towards finishing their desired courses in a year, earning a certification over time, a diploma for finishing any course that takes two years, and then degree programs that take three or four years. It will also assist students in selecting the best course based on their abilities.

The NEP content development for the PG program will witness significant changes as per the reformed policy.
